Meet Annie. She is standing next to my currently second biggest cow. This cow has been a thorn in my side for a couple of years now. I spent all kinds of time worrying about smaller cows calving and it was Annie who I had to pull her stillborn bull calf with a hyper extended leg. Most likely my fault for over graining Annie late in her pregnancy trying to over compensate for crappy hay. Anyhow, I was ready to sell her back then but as it turned out I was short of surrogates and guess who was open? Well, I've been waiting for the calf since May 5th and still no calf. Now I'm suspecting the embryo didn't take and she will have a Baldie. We had a Hereford bull for clean up and the Wagyu she is supposed to have will be solid colored distinctive Wagyu calf. The other possibility is she calved and lost the calf to predators or something only a stupid cow would do. I keep checking her and she is bagged up and as sloppy rear end as they come. A couple of weeks ago I had a buyer for all my Beefmasters and couldn't sell her because she carrying my expensive Wagyu embryo. My main reason I don't like Annie is she intimidates me by her size and unwillingness to step away. She is always right underfoot standing sideways to me. She hasn't nodded at me or charged or really anything, but I can hear her thinking about it. If anyone wants tips on how to pull a calf from inside a truck, I can tell you it's possible. Please tell me there are more annoying cows out there? Do any of you have a cow you really dislike but have to keep? I just sold 14 cows many whom I really cared about but still have Annie. Someone else would love her just fine. Annie is probably is a sweet cow that just rubs me wrong. My favorite, Sophia, looks like a mean bull to most people and they don't like her just because she has beady eyes, is bold and has a nose ring.
