It's been a tough year for me and I could really use a win right now. The trees that fell earlier this year have really set us back. My barn isn't getting finished, the camper is toast, the boat is also totaled and we used what money we had to replace my car. The first logger I contacted will cut the trees and sell them but he said he can't afford a split so no income there. I have another coming out soon so maybe it'll be a better deal.
My little beef cows calved in September and I wanted them bred back to calve at the same time next year. The cows were AI'ed by friend of mine the first week of December and I drew blood today and sent it off. I should know this time next week if they're pregnant. I hope I got enough blood to test for Clara but she's really hard to do a tail draw on as she jumps and fights like crazy and I have a solid head gate/stanchion but no squeeze. If they are pregnant it'll be a huge win financially. I ordered semen from a local bull that is really nice but also affordable ($35/straw instead of $125/straw). I hope he will really improve on my girls and it turned out that my friend was going to be in the area so he brought a tank and picked up the straws, saving me $140 in shipping. Then he came and AI'ed my cows for me (at no cost) so saved me another $120. Neither came back into heat so I drew blood and sent it in!
Just for the sake of sharing, here is the bull DD and I found and his blurb![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
