Someone I know has this hay that had some wheat in baled into it. It was first cutting and the wheat was still green. Looks like a variety of stuff in the bales besides the wheat but the bales have a light tan/stemmy appearance, a lot like a straw bale. He gave me a bale to try and much to my surprise since it's not impressive looking hay, the cows love it. So I've been feeding it to them unsure of what the actual nutritional value was. So I sent a sample out to a lab and it came back low protein, 5% but high sugar 12%. Not surprising really, my guess was that the green wheat stems were still full of sugar. Thoughts on feeding this stuff?
