ONE of our 5 dogs has got something awful going on with her skin. I've taken her to the vet & they've done scrapings & all to look for mange/mites/etc. All were negative but they had me treat her anyways just to be sure (something about some being highly sensitive to minimal amounts). So, I've taken her in twice & treated twice (diff things) but no change it's actually getting worse.
It started on her back end by her hips above her tail. Now her entire belly is hairless, the skin is NASTY looking (thick & gross) & it hurts her when you touch her. It's spreading up by under her chin too. She's loosing a lot of weight but no gastrointestinal issues whatsoever. She has been wormed for what it's worth.
She's miserable. Their food is a grain free, soy free, yada yada food (Diamond brand). She's been on the same brand her entire life (born here) with no issues until recently. I started supplementing her with flaxseed oil recently (1 Tbslpn daily) & they get raw milk, grassfed/all natural beef scraps & rarely all natural (soy free non-GMO) pork scraps but other than the milk it's like a once a week thing.
I have bathed her with a couple shampoos that are supposed to be super gentle but she yelps in pain. She begs to be petted but whines & whimpers when you touch her. She's super super needy (not normal). None of the other dogs have anything going on.
Now that I've written you a novel does anybody have any ideas? I really hate to see her suffering like this. The vet's suggestion is to put her on Science Diet (sold by them of course) which just seems ridiculous to me. Food change is not ridiculous but putting her on a corn based diet like that does. 14 month old Blue Heeler btw
