This spri g I had two hives full of bees and honey I was very happy with the good weather and plenty of rain I new the necter flow and honey were to be plentiful .then suddenly no bees comb full of honey and no bees Well I searched the net and of all places found package bees avaliable on ebay so as all I could afford was 1 package I ordered it .they arived via ups in good shape .well I had also in desperation sent out word to local bee keepers I wanted a swarm ,and a good older bee man called saying bring an empty hive and tbe next swarm would be mine :-) :-) .saying the hive full of honey and comb would work fine .I went to load it up .I noticed several workers on the front porch but dismised them as some of the new calm package bees robbing a free meal fromthe abandoned hive couriously with no smoke long sleaves or even a hat took the top off ,and pow one flew up and poped me on my bald head as three or more were buzzing my head I noticed lots of bees on the combs as another deposited her stinger in my arm .I replaced the top and cover and started making tracks away as now there were several mad bees singing the loud angrey buzz and dive bombing my head I now realized that a wild or strange swarm had taken up residence in my hive and not being used to me or being fooled with were defending there new home.so I after letting things calm a few minits took another empty hive to hopefully recive a swarm .I'm happy to have had mother nature send me a free swarm they are the normal three stripe italian honey bees but my guess is they swarmed from a bee tree in the forest (which my homestead is surounded by ) and moved in on there own ; never being worked around by people they are more agressive than my friends that i'd fed and worked around and with a little time and smoke will fit right in .but still just in case they are of a more agressive strain (which is really not to likely I think I just suprised them poping the cover of there hive) I be sure to have my full bee suit on next time I check on them hopefully to put a super on with the brood box full of comb and some honey giving them a head start I'm in high hopes with them .and who knows by them moving in from the wild they may be more naturalized to this area and resistant to whatever it is that has been causeing this coliny calaspes disorder or absconding that has been plageing us bee keepers.
