Why does everything have to happen on a Friday evening, when everything is closed? Technically, the charger stopped working early evening. I went and bought some fuses, hoping that was the problem. Of course, it is never the easy fix. I was unable to make it back to the store, before they closed. I was "hoping" that my good bovine would stay in the fence over night, but NOOOO!!!
I happened to hear CoNan bellow and I knew, even before I went out there. I hurried up and slipped my shoes (flip flops) on and run out the door. I see CoNan in the field, but no Daisy. I am hunting for shining eyes with my little flash light. Finally, I spot her eyes, at the back of the field, outside of the hot wire. I walk out there to get her, but she would not let me get close enough to her to catch hold of her halter. She wouldn't run, but turn her head and walk away.
In the mean time, Mr. CoNan goes barreling through the hot wire gate, into the alley way. I had to leave Daisy for a little while, to go tend to CoNan. I knew that Daisy was not going to go any where. I hurried and got a scoop of grain and dumped a little on the ground to keep CoNan's attention on that, rather than trying to get to where Daisy is at. I managed to get him into the new field fairly easy. (Charger connects to both fields, so not charged there either.) Give him a little more grain and some hay to keep his attention.
Go back for Daisy. Every time that I go toward her, she walks away, going around the pond. Now, the pond is very deep, with a small alligator in it. I was so afraid that she would go into the pond and I would not be able to get her out. Thank God that she just went around the pond, eating grass. I had to walk allllll the way around this big pond, to stop her from going farther away from where I needed her to go. I walk up and start petting her hip and talking to her. I ease my way up to her side and front shoulder. I hurriedly snatched a hold of her halter, as she turned, trying to keep me from catching her, but it was too late. I clipped her lead to her and she calmly walked back to where I need her to enter the alley way.
I was so afraid that CoNan would barrel through that gate to get to her this time, but thank God (again), he did not. I walk up to the gate to the new field and CoNan would not back up so that I could get her into the new field. I had to get my little boy to get my big stick. By the time I got the stick, he moved back and I was able to get the gate open and get Daisy in the field.
Oh, by the way, I am home alone with my 7 yr. old little boy. DH is at darts, an hour away. I am so proud of my little boy. I yelled for him to bring my boots to me and he came running.
I called a "good" friend, closer than DH and he came out with his extra charger and hooked it up to my field. (9:45 pm and mosquito haven here) I love my friend...lol Tried to get CoNan to touch the wire, but think that he could smell it and would not do so.
After all is over and done, I have an asthma attack and an anxiety attack. Glad that neither were extremely bad. I am alright now.
Ok, enough rambling. Got it out and better now. So, can cows smell that the hot wire is not working? Also, what is a good strength/brand of hot wire charger? I am going get a new one first thing in the morning.

BTW, just checked on them and they are both still in the field. 11:30 pm. So glad the excitement is over, for the moment any way.
