You may recall two months months ago today I started a thread asking if you thought Nessie looked pregnant;

She was of course and I thought you might like to see her today.
She is due July 9th to Brazo (7J563) but it doesn't look like she will even make it to the end of this month. These pictures were taken a couple of hours ago. Nessie is a Paramount daughter and was a show heifer the past two years. She usually placed towards the front of the class and always ahead of Adia. her udder has done what I was afraid of. It is slowing a slight shelf (her dam's shelf is horrible!) and showing some spraddling in the teats but she does appear to be quite an improvement over her dam. Of course, she is full of edema right now. We'll see what comes of her udder after it is cleared up. She looks like she should follow in her dam's footsteps when it comes to production for sure!
This is a picture of Gabrielle. It looks like Hermaine may have slipped her calf at 6 months along. Hermaine and Gabrielle were the first animals I bred after returning home from Kansas. Both settled to the breedings. Hermaine was still pregnant back on the second of June but when we finally got herd health done on the 13th, she appeared to be in full heat and I couldn't find signs of pregnancy. Quite possibly Lepto as we were behind on our shots. She was supposed to have had her shot on the 2nd and we may not have lost the pregnancy. Gabrielle is still pregnant though, due September 11th. Hermaine might be but it is doubtful.
Gabrielle is very lucky! She turns three this year. We'd only seen four solid heats her entire life and her bred her for the first time on the last one! She is settled to peral, a past herd bull who was collected in 1982!
The thread I linked to shows Hermaine and Gabrielle the same time I took pictures of Nessie.
I also just think the shot is neat with her at the back and the cows spreading out in front.
Check out the veining on this first calf heifer! This is Cadence. She calved with a dead heifer calf back in late March. Just a lot of veining there.
