I have had so many things going on this year I swear I meet myself coming in the door. I love all the good blessings in my life, but sometimes slower would be nice.
So after last Decembers and January's cattle issues and losing an unexpected calf and then my beloved Molly, things have come full circle. Sadie has had a bull calf, both are doing well.
I got to meet Cowboy gourmet an AR KFCer, when he brought 3yo Daisy to us at the end of August. Forgot to take pics together but I plan on doing that next visit. I look forward to seeing him again and meeting his wife. Daisy is a beautiful doe eyed blondie. She is spunky, very intelligent. She loves to be scratched and would crawl in my lap I think if she were smaller, lol. She is more like a Lab than a cow. She has such a personality, she just cracks me up.
A few weeks ago we drove to SC to meet Chuck and the Mrs. aka Jonna and their wonderful cow Curly. The picture above is me on the left and the Mrs. lol. That would be Curly on the far left. We had a wonderful visit, they made us feel like family.
She is an awesome cow. She is just what I needed to get me started back milking. She is patient and doesn't care who is milking or on what side. The video of her children milking together is what got me. My son and I milk her together. My dad also milks her. Which came in handy the other day that I was too sick to milk. It took 5yrs off my life to drive her back to AR, but she did just great. She acted like she drove across the country on a regular basis. And no I will not be getting into the livestock transporting business. I am truly blessed and thankful to have Curly.
Besides all that I have a fridge full of milk and butter. Oh and I have lost 10lbs since getting Curly, coincidence I think not. Im getting some new RIR chicks soon.
I remember back a little over a year ago, asking God for these things. I said, I just wanna be a farmer and live off the land. I am now adding a PS on the bottom of that, Lord please put a milker, milk fridge, and new freezer in my future. Always be ready when you ask God for things, I just thought I was ready. lol. But Im not complaining. I am truly happy and truly blessed.
