the flood gates of hell opened last night and seems we were right in its path. from 11 pm to 4 am we got over 4" of rain. all of our eaves were off the front of the house while we r working on the milk kitchen. It took Mike and I both, running 200MPH each to even just BARELY keep up with the flooding in the house. My kitchen ended up with 2" of water in it, WITH us bailing non stop. then I went in to check my sons room, and the water was up 4" on his window with water DUMPING in his window into the lizard tank. so while Mike bailed the entry way to save the kitchen, I went out and bailed the window well to save the sons room. 5 hrs of bailing non stop nearly. The creek flooded into the pasture looks like a lake that is nearly 9" deep. Mike is out trying to get the eaves back up before this afternoons storms hit that are supposed to be as bad or worse than last nites. so when he gets that done is going to get a small pump for the entry way. we have plastic EVERYWHERE on the ground trying to keep the rain away from the foundation. So.. note to all of you that think living UNDER ground is neat... NOT.. I would just about GIVE you my home right now...
I literally sat down in the pouring rain and just cried last nite. i had on a rain coat, but the water was SHEETING off the roof and straight down my pants. Im doing laundry now to clean all our nasties and towels ect.
on the up side, the cows faired very well, in fact they were UP in production this am. we got 5 gallons from ruth and clarice and 4 from reba. so Im now churning the last 2 days worth of cream (3 gallons) and have todays doing its thing. well got to run.. praying you all stayed dryer than us. we needed some rain but OUCH.
