Well, last night Emma was very obviously going to have her calf by today. Kicking her belly, tail swishing, up and down, uncomfortable, off on her own etc. I was surprised it took as long as it did for baby to come (she was not in labor when I went to bed, and calf was only about 1/2 old at 9:40 this morning), and it is a little dun heifer. Mama is very very laid back about life at this point - very different than last year. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
We took the baby away in order to make life easier for me (when you are milking 2 already, what is one more!), plus I wanted to see what she is giving for milk on a regular milk schedule instead of share milking. I have never bottle fed a Dexter before so this will be new.
I called Emma, she came into the stanchion, Dh brushed her down, washed her up, pre milked and then we milked colostrum into a bottle and Emma kindly put her leg back for us and then stood like a rock. Dh was impressed (that is a first for him *G) - well especially impressed because last year if she saw or even heard DH nearby she would run through a fence to get away from him.![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
Baby emptied two quarters before we got to her, so is fighting the bottle with all her might right now, so we'll try to get more into her tonight but are not too worried. Dydee is loving having a friend to bounce around with (and this little girl has some SERIOUS bounce!)
It will be interesting to see how much more friendly a bottle calf can be. So far my experience has not resulted in friendly heifers when I share milk, and I want to see what this little girl will be like.

Last picture I'm looking odd because well, my 35 week pregnant belly is in the way, the cow is short and I was trying to get a picture of me milking for DH![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
