I guess you could say it was one of those weeks, first I had a first calf heifer that had trouble calving so I had to pull the calf, everything turned out alright, I penned her and her calf up for the night so they could bond. Well in the morning I opened the pen and went in to get the calf up and let them out with the rest of the herd. Got the calf up and was walking back to the other barn, when I got about 50 feet away I was air born. the new heifer must of thought I needed a left, she then started rolling me over and over until her calf must of got scared and ran out to the pasture, thank goodnessthe heifer ran after her calf otherwise I think I would of ended up alot worse off. I had internal bleeding in my right leg and two broken ribs and a bruised ankle. What I can't figure out is why she never bothered me when I was in the pen with her, why she waited until my back was turned and that far away. I guess a person never knows.
My cria is doing really good, she got a little sick where I had to take her to the vet and she had to have a blood transfusion because she never got enough of her first milk. they used cow blood and it worked, she is really spoiled now, she still won't suck on her mother so we have to bottle feed her but her mother still stays with her all the time which is good, the cria gives kisses now too. I'll quit whinning now, hope everyone is doing good out there. take care jackie
