Clarice was a little quiet this am. Put her in the pasture with grazeable grass for the first time. and left for our sons FootBall game, which they won, I might add.
Anyway.. we came home and I went down to see Clarice and take her OFF the grass. she was NOT happy and didnt want to move.
Finally convinced her she wanted to go to the other pasture.
So couple hrs later friends of ours that have been waiting all week to finally meet Clarice came to meet her. Scot is my relief milker if I have to have one. The calf has been dead still for days, unless I bumped for it.
So we are standing there petting and rubbing and feeding the Clarice. Nancy, scots wife is standing sorta UP against clarice who is leaning into her just a tiny bit. MOOHAHAHAHA.. Nancy got goosed by the calf! I swear to god that calf was going to crawl RIGHT OUT HER SIDE! we could see 2 feet, looked like back, moving up and down and all over. Several times the feet stuck out several inches (like 4-6"). This went on for at least 1o mins that we were there, and was still going when we walked away.
I have been around lots of preg. animals but this was the MOST movement I have ever seen. She would stop moving and get a strange look on her face.. and stare at her stomach and the alien within!
We were able to see this movement on BOTH sides at the same time. As I sit here wrighting this, I looked at my husband and told him I BET that calf was turning. That is the only thing that would make sense for that much HARD movement. It was kewl to watch, but I sure felt for her.
she is due October 12th according to her Ultra sound. However she could have been bred earlier. She still has LOTS of room to fill her udder, vulva is soft and jiggles when she walks but also I feel can go alot farther. she still has the bloody mucous show, but no goober strings yet. Just thought I would share the story of the calf that goosed the girl!
