The little booger squeezed out between 2 strands of barbed and is currently joyfully rampaging around the property. He can't get off the property, so no worries there, but I can't get him back in the pasture where he belongs.
I tempted him with pellets earlier, and got him to stand still long enough to get a lead clipped on, but he ran away and I lost my grip (the story of my life! LOL!). Then he started chasing Kiara up the driveway (poor Kiara) and stepped on the lead rope. Rather than bringing him up short, the clamp that holds the lead to itself on the snap end pranged open and he continued on unfazed with the clip hanging from his halter and the leadrope lying in the driveway.
Rich tried to help me then, and he rattled a can of pellets while I tried to "drive" Seven back through a gate with the crop, but he's too smart to be fooled. Every time I thought we'd get him through, he bucked and spun and ran the other way. It's raining and snowing outside, and 33 degrees, so we're both wet and cold and decided to come in and wait him out. I'm thinking that eventually, when he's done "exploring," he'll lay down somewhere to chew his cud and maybe I can get another lead on him then and we can try again.
If anyone has any better ideas, however, I'm open to suggestions!
I've already thought of pulling him along maybe with the garden tractor, but Rich says there's nothing to even take a dally around on it, much less tie to. And I'm not entirely sure that it's heavier than Seven. He might very well just pull it over on its side. There's Bob, which I KNOW Seven couldn't tip over, but it's so noisy it might make his mood worse (more excited or scared), and right now there's so much mud, Bob might get stuck somewhere along the way.
Anyway, I'm open to new ideas, if anybody has one.
Thanks!
