She ruins it AGAIN!
I had surgery last Tuesday and can't milk or even participate in milking until this weekend. Then no lifting the milker for a month at least after that.
So DS is 13 and is well trained in milking Molly. he's done it alone a few times in the past month and did a nice job.
THen last week DH was home so he and DS milked. All was GREAT!!!
They did good keeping the same routine so Molly did it just by habit.
A bit of background, Molly has always had something for DS. As in lets make him catch me, chase me, run him ragged, haha hehe! I really thought she had outgrown that since he is now a bit taller than my 5 foot. wrong.
So Monday, DH goes back to work and DS goes out to milk. He goes to the pasture with her slip on halter, she puts her ears back, gets wild eyed and takes off. She tries to get out of the temporary fence (we have poly string and step in posts we move around inside the main fence). She got zapped. Then she takes off again. Runs right up the 1 wire gate and goes through it. Slipped under it, getting zapped again. Runs through backyard, up to her milking shed. So she did go where she was supposed to go. She starts gobbling up her breakfast.
DS just figured okay, you brat, I'll just get to milking. She wouldn't let down at all. No surprise there! He did get a gallon. We milk by machine and Molly can let down just hearing the machine kick on. We've been together a long time so her body is pretty conditioned to it all.
She then decides to pee all over. He gets the machine off and was pretty ticked by then.
We don't have peeing and pooing in the stanchion except for the week after calving. Then NEVER does she mess up after that.
Okay, she is mad, ticked, upset - I'm not there and he is.
He gets halter on her and lets her out of the stanchion. She goes wild again, jerks halter out of his hand and takes off in the hay field outside the shed. He finally chases her into the barnyard which has lots of fence and she cannot get out.
About that time I'm getting concerned where is DS? and wander over in my slow walking mode. He is closing barn doors and checking other gates. He doesn't know I'm there. He stands about 20 feet from her, hands on his hips and says what in the heck is your problem? I did everything right. She tosses her head and takes off. running around the barn.
Now I see she has a rope lead clipped to her collar also. Her slip on halter is in dirt by the gate. DS sees me and starts crying. I tried to do it, he says and she flipped out. I didn't want to bother you. But I don't know what her problem is, we've done milking before and she was FINE!!!
So I go strolling into the barnyard with halter, Molly stands there all wild eyed. I walk up and take off clip on lead. I start to slip on halter and she takes off. Okey dokey.
She is all wacky and can just stay in the yard all day until DH gets home. By then she was all woe is me, I didn't do anything wrong. My udder is full and I'm hungry.
So DH is milking at 5:30 am. Molly doesn't get up until 7 am.
So she stumbled into milking and ended up peeing everywhere as soon as he was done. Then was going to take a crap. He got her tail down and out in the field fast.
No problems last night. And no stuff this morning.
I went out last night to see her, she was all lovey towards me. I shook my finger at her and said I'm not happy how you acted towards my boy. Oh wow that innocent look out of that stinker!!!
Really she is a pill toward DS. Amber the new cow loves him - of course she has a month or so before calving so we'll see how long that lasts.
The ducks love him, the geese love him, the dogs love him, the beef herd calves like him. This darn cow has bad manners. AND a big mischievous streak towards my kid.
grrrrrr......
yeah she probably misses me but she made my kid cry!
No she wasn't in heat just all wacky with the changes and getting zapped a few times.
Now she has to get up early for her work! ha! No more sleeping in until 8 or 9 am anymore!!! hehehehehe!
