or at least he is trying to! ;D
Where else can I talk about this stuff and I am just about to "pop" wanting to share with someone that Little Dave, the Mini Jersey bull I picked up as a calf a year ago is now a year old and I have put him in with his very first "girlfriend".
Edy is in standing heat this morning and I gave her and Davie a private pasture for the romancing. Edy is an experienced cow but this is Davies first try, so we shall see how it goes. He may still be a little too young, but at a year old, I am certainly going to give it a shot. My other bull, Peanut, was breeding cows by this age.
I have been trying to load pictures to FB, Photobuckets and my blog since last night but can't get anything to work for me. When I can, I will post pictures of Davie. I don't have any great pictures. I am still waiting on that perfect pose that will really put into perspective how short he is. I am acutally hoping he grows a few more inches as he is a little shorter than what I would like but overall I am very happy with him. He is a Native pure Miniature Jersey and at 12 months old is only 34 inches at the hip.
This summer I will be using him to breed my foundation pure Mini Jersey heifer Tori and my percentage miniatures Princess and Liza. I am so looking forward to the babies next year. Princess and Liza are both around 38 inches tall. Tori is a little taller and will probably end up in the lower mid-miniature range. Princess is 17 months old now. Liza and Tori are both a year old. I will probably wait until next summer to breed Promise as she is only seven months old now.
So everyone cross your fingers that Little Davie can get it figure out and get Edy bred!
