'Cat' and I are the only KFCers in my area and she's even newer than I am. Well, she needed help with bio-tracking and I thought I could do it. I drove to her house and was able to draw blood with only two sticks of the needle. It was quick and she hardly even pulled her head out of the feed bucket (I thought Eunice was the most docile cow in the world until I met "Six").
Well Eunice needed to be bio-tracked too b/c the result of the new milk pregnancy test was not real clear, so Cat said, "lets go back to your house and just get her done too". I was thrilled with the offer and off we went.
The very first stick of the needle (with just one small turn) I got blood. I looked at Cat and started bragging about what 'experts' we had become. Only a few drops and the blood stopped. I had to prick poor Eunice about 10 times and just could not ever get any more blood. I remembered that the vet assistant had to stick her so many times when I first bought her that I almost left the vet's office without testing her for anything. Are some cows just more difficult to find veins on? LOL - or does poor Eunice just have awful luck?
Cat and I called the bio-tracking place and they said they thought I had gotten enough blood to test. Thank God, b/c I had decided that I was just not going to stick her again. Bless her heart, she was so good about it that I didn't have the heart to keep trying. There was blood ALL over her tail from all the pricks - just hardly any in the tube.
Anyway - I'll be sending the blood off first thing in the morning. Here's hoping that Eunice and Six are both bred and the newbies can move on to the next cow challenge! ....Sandy
