He was castrated Thur or Fri, we picked up on Saturday. He is around 3 months old. Yes, I know it is late and NO if we knew he was just castrated I wouldn't have bought him. So kick me later. I've kicked myself a few times already. Anyhow, his 3 brothers are doing great. He is so so. I was advise to give Duramycin-10 in his water, but he he wasn't interested much so we syringed it in. He fought that very nicely. That was Sunday noon.
After having such issues figuring out the dosage for d-10 , I think I dosed him way to low. We ended up with la-200 on Monday (1/18) . Really giving a shot is easier than syringing in his mouth. Evening feeding he seemed better. He was right there eating with everyone. This morning he started off better, drinking and eating but backed off. So we did another shot. So tonight he is still "off". He has also gotten 30 cc of peroxide sprayed into the cut area. He does wag his tail and I saw him urninate. We saw a normal bowel movement Saturday afternoon (after arrival here) and again Sunday morning. Nothing the past 2 days but I'm not there to watch all the time anyways.
I did read sometimes an intestine prolapse can happen. Nothing is showing outside but near the cut is swollen, where his brothers are healing nicely with minimal swelling. He is the largest of the litter.
He is in very toasty house full of straw, steam was rising from it this morning. We are in the 35-40 F range, with sunny days no wind.
Any suggestions on a different treatment?
Should I try an enema tomorrow? Would it matter? If he isn't drinking enough he "could" have an problem with a bowel movement.
yes I'm contacting who we bought him from tomorrow just looking for a different view from someone here that might have some more suggestions.
Thanks. Gee after 7 years of having pigs this is our first obvious sick one.
