Blasted cow! Daisy is too smart for her own good. The other day while computer was out Daisy pulled a good one. I had forgiven her and put it aside till she did it again tonight! The Gall of some cows!!
She has figured how to get into the feed room. The door is made out of a metal frame and "screened" with cattle panel. The other day I went early to check on Loretta and was taking note of the enlarging udder and got to looking around for all the cows. Most came up to me when I got there. I go to get the feed (I am all by myself mind you) and when I turned toward t he feed room I stop dead in my tracks, Daisy is sitting there looking at me through the bars like she is in jail, unable to get out of the feed room In her effort to turn around her big tushy turned over the big steel barrel full of several 50lb bags of deer corn. Nothing spilled out as we have lids on every thing but it was very heavy and she could not get past it to push the door open. She had crapped all over everything and peed. No telling she may have been in their all night. I had to lift the barrel before she could come out it was covered in crap, and me in my work clothes, totally not prepared for this.
I thought I possibly had left the door open but Rich witnessed her later using her horn to lift the t-post propped against it quite snuggly (to keep them out) then she used her horn to grab the door and open it and started to walk in till he yelled at her. The only feed she got the lid off of was goat feed and that was in a small barrel and the three bricks holding the lid down fell in covering the feed ;D ha ha. She tore some bales of alfalfa up and consumed about a half a 100lb bale herself. One would think after getting caught in there and temporarily jailed that she would have learned her lesson. Rich has sense fixed the door with a chain so that she can not get in.
Well Chase was feeding up this evening and left the door open behind him and with us all there she barges right in to eat hay!! That COW!!
What do you do with a stupid but oh so intelligent cow?
