Hi Everyone,
I am so happy I can't contain the news, even though I haven't emailed Pam McCullough yet due to it being a cloudy day (Yahoo takes so much time to load on a slow dial up connection). So I am here to share my great experience with the rebuilt Surge I purchased from Pam McCullough on the recommendations I read on this forum.
It arrived on time. The packaging was top rate. Though I was a little intimidated when I first saw it all, I - a building challenged woman- was able to fit it all together with the helpful instructions (which also include clening instructions, milking instructions, and the manual for the motor).
The condition was like new on everything. Pam was conscientious about my solar electrical lifestyle and the motor she sent - 9 amp- worked like a charm on solar on this cloudy day. Eve n though I thought I would put electric by the road I am unable to put a little shed down there by the well just yet so it was important that the machine be able to run only on solar electric.
To top off the great experience, my Jersey who freshened on April 8 and had edema in two back quarters, just stood there. She came out of a dairy three freshenings ago. It doesn't make a lot of noise and she didn't even flinch. I was able to milk those back quarters out by themselves with no trouble. Haven't even built the stanchion yet (just found used materials and brought them home today) so my girl just stood there like the queen she is, sifting through her grains.
I am so grateful to Pam and to those of you who recommended her and helped me decide on the Surge over the DeLaval. I think it was the perfect choice for my solar farm and my girls. I am also very grateful for this forum which has allowed me to ask questions that I haven't found answers for in my neck of the Tennessee woods.
If anyone is thinking of purchasing a Surge or Delaval, Pam is the ticket!
