Just wanted to post a quick update...
The three girls are getting along well.
Domino - the older new cow is the boss of the bunch. She is quite the pistol. She is dry now, but I've put her in the stanchion a few times for grain and kelp and brushing and handling. Once she's done with her grain, she's ready to get outta there. So, me being me, of course I make her wait. ;D She has a lot of personality, and definite opinions about how things should be. She hasn't offered to kick, but does a lot of head-shaking and pouting. She's about resigned herself to being caught when I want, and is getting close to mannerly about it. She's learning that getting along with me is a good thing. Yesterday she learned that flipping a full bucket of milk over with her nose is NOT a good thing Did I mention she's a pistol? ;D She should calve March or April, and will be fine by then, behaviorially speaking.
Lilly, the younger one, is a sweetheart. She is very timid and uncertain about things, but she has a very gentle disposition. I think she has it in her to be a pet. She also is not easy to catch yet, but she is getting better. She's gotten to the point now that she knows I won't give up when I go to catch her, but she does make me work for it a little bit.
Cindy seems to be enjoying the company, and is pretty matter of fact about being the littlest cow. She just scoots out of the way and goes on about her business. The shoving over the feed is pretty non-existent as long as it's spread out enough. I was concerned about her getting beat up, or reacting poorly, but she's adapted just fine.
