I haven't been bogging down the forums with pictures and announcements of every single birth.
We kidded out only 14 does in January. We ended up with two sets of triplets (b,d,b & b,d,d); 8 sets of twins (b-P,b: d,d: d,b: b,b-P: b-P,d-P: b,d: b,d: b,b) and 4 singletons (d:d:d:d). The -P stands for Polled, so four naturally polled kids so far. One 75% Boer polled buck kid and the others are out of our Polled Nubian herdsire. The Boer buck kid's dam is out of the Nubian buck as well. We lost three buck kids during the week when the temps were -10 with a -26 wind chill. Most of the kids were born that week.
I went to get pictures of them outside today but this is the best I could do for the kids not being raised on CAE Prevention;
Pretty soon they won't fit under that milk stand... lol They weren't all under there, but I figured a picture of one kid outside just wasn't interesting... lol
Here are some of the Prevention raised doelings;
I believe there are four does under Amadala's doeling there, but I can't remember for sure.
There are currently 8 prevention doelings. Three basically Nubian doelings and then 5 Boer cross doelings.
This is Jacobea's behemouth doeling from the Guessing Game. She is 3/4 Boer, 1/8 Spanish, 1/8 Nubian and incredibly thick.
Who can resist a face like these?
The brown doeling is a naturally polled 7/8 Nubian, 1/8 LaMancha/Alpine out of my favorite milking doe. She's for sale, recordable as 50% with ADGA, and a full younger sister to Jyllie63's Shiloh and my Genevieve-P. The doe on the right is 3/4 Boer, 1/4 Nubian and also available.
We are in a lull period. The next kids are due starting 3/13/09. There are as many as 65 more does to kid, though I doubt they are all bred. I hope they aren't in fact, since two are doelings I had not planned on breeding yet. lol
Those 65 are spread out from March-July.....ugh
