I've been so bummed out since Monday evening when I realized my little hand-raised cat, Bobo-James, was missing. We live in a VERY heavily coyote-populated area, so straying cats don't usually come back. My husband had been working around the farm in the early afternoon and didn't see Bobo, which meant he left sometime during the morning. He has never strayed anywhere before; he always sticks close to the barn.
We looked for him Monday night with a flashlight, but found nothing. Tuesday night I worked until 8:15, so no opportunity to look for the little guy. Last night I went out and searched the edges of the cornfields and the trees along the fencelines for an hour and a half until the flashlight battery wore out. Last night was the worst-I finally kind of "gave up" thinking that I might find him.
Tonight, my neighbor was down at my barn with two of her children. Her older two were across the street at their farm, and they came over to let their mother know that a woman had stopped at their house and had asked them to take a cat that was following her around. She ignored their protests that they were allergic and left the cat with them. The children described the cat as having a cocked head--which Bobo-James has as a leftover sign of a middle ear infection as a small kitten.
I asked them what color the cat was, and they described Bobo--I'm SO HAPPY! He's a darling little cat, very friendly and happy, and it was just so sad to think he was gone, likely caught by the coyotes.
this is Bobo-James-He's a bit older now and a lot bigger
