First thought he was bitten by another snake. This time its bad. He has been missing a few days, so there is no swelling maybe because it happened a few days ago and he just made it home. Please advise if you think his symptoms suggest other possible problems.
He can barely walk he had sticky green stuff on his hind leg from up close to his tail on his right side. (I am thinking that because he is licking there a lot it has ruptured and drained?) He walks like he is drunk with stuff stuck to the bottom of his feet. sometimes falling over. Picking his feet way up high to take a step. That is the best way I can describe it. When he lays down he is purring irregularly and is shaky like someone with severe Parkingson's disease. Every so often he kind of jerks. He is not panting, or drooling like he did before, I am thinking perhaps because it happened a few days ago?
I am worried, he really looks bad. Our stupid local vet is closed on Fridays and won't answer the blasted phone. The other vets are pretty far and am afraid will be super expensive. My husband says either he will make it or he won't at this point and there is not a lot that could probably be done for him. And that we can not afford to spend very much $ on him. He is the sweetest male cat I have ever had. He is just unbelievably good for "just a farm cat" I thought about bringing him home with me, but was afraid it would upset him more.
Uh...Rabies would not resemble this would it? He has not been aggressive at all and just cried when I wrapped a towel around him to move him into the barn. He did drink some water for us earlier. We left some by him because he usually drinks out of the water trough and I thought he would forgo drinking because of the trouble and how he felt. but he did drink out of bucket.
