Well, I've been rather absent around here, though I have been stopping in and trying to keep up on everyone! Life has been crazy lately!
So...I've been renting a woman's spare bedroom for going on 4 weeks now, and working at my new job why DH and I try to find a house. Well, we've found it, and are going through all the paperwork and so on(house inspection is next Tuesday). The house is HUGE(2200 sq ft, not counting the full, dry basement), with two car garage and three acres.
So..today I call the building inspector to find out what the zoning is and if we're going to be able to have our chickens(didn't even want to ask the cow question!!) Well, he tells me that the village code is extremely tough, and that they won't permit them.
Now I have a call into one of the trustees to see if there's any room to appeal the zoning. The property is JUST inside the village limits, next door to the town barn, and across the road from railroad tracks. There's one neighbor, he lives in the house next door and works at the town barn(gotta love that commute!). The place looks really rural, which is why I didn't think anything of it to start with. I'm hoping there's room to appeal - there's more than enough space to keep the chickens in the back of the property...
Anyways...Just wanted to see if anyone would be interested in my babies if the worst comes to pass. I'll certainly post it in the sale area if it happens.
I have 4 buffies(from last year), 10 EE(1 roo), and 10 buckeyes(1 roo). The buckeyes and EEs are due to start laying any time now - we got them at the beginning of April.
If anyone might be interested please PM me. I'm thinking of reducing the flock anyways, since I got the 20 new ones with the intention of selling eggs to my coworkers at my last job in Columbus. I'm working just south of Buffalo, and the flock's currently with my husband 1hr 45 min due south of Columbus.
