OR HEATHER...I am horrified to tell you, but our same little dog who dined on the rat poison, was running wildly playing here in the house, she had jumped up in my son's lap who was sitting in a chair and she turned to jump out of the chair. My son was watching tv and instinctively tried to catch her so it perhaps impared her landing, she landed with a horrible thud on our wood floor. She didn't yelp but wenced in pain, then after 30 seconds or so smiled and was walking fine for a few seconds, I picked her up and loved on her a little and she started seizing. She didn't loose conciousness and only stopped breathing for 10-15 seconds then panted wildly while still seizing for another 45 secs or so then her seizure eased up and after a few minutes she was fine. While she was seizing we called the vet and left a message after a couple of minutes he called back and he said if she was fine in 20-30 minutes she would probably be ok. He called it an epileptic seizure due to the fall and probably fright. She seems fine now, what things should we watch for? Is she likely to have seizures from now on? Is she at risk while getting excited
My husband has had several nocturnal seizures and when they happened it messed me up horribly emotionally, gave me post tramatic stress disorder for a while. I stayed very calm while she was seizing but this is really making me sick at my stomach now and am having flash backs to my husband's seizures. I feel much the way I did then. I have much better things to do than act this silly. I don't need this right now. My son is getting a cold now that is settling in his lungs, the beginnings of a croupy cough, with the holidays we won't be able to get him to the doctors till tuesday, and he has his doctor's appt with the neurologist Thursday. His liver enzymes were still elevated on the second test.
