I am Chris. My wife , Stacy and I are new to the board. We will both likely use the same login so we probably should sign our posts.
We have recently purchased a small farm in Western MO ;D. We are moving out there next week with our three young children. My wife (actually our whole family) is a real fan of natural, raw and whole foods. We are really interested in doing a farm where we raise food for our family and that we can share with friends, neighbors, etc. I have done quite a bit of volunteer work with dairy and beef cattle just for fun. We want to have a jersey or brown swiss milk cow as the centerpiece of our farm. The farm that we bought is as ready as can be to move a cow in and start milking.
I think this site will be a great resource to us. I hope that sometime we can even be a resource to others in the on line community. My wife knows quite a bit about pro-biotic cultures, particularly with vegetables. I recognize that we are truly novices. We would appreciate any advice that we can get.
If any of you know of a good milk cow for sale in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas or Oklahoma please let us know, before you post it if possible. I would be willing to drive to pick her up. We would like one that has been fed on good grass pasture/hay and that has not been given unnatural supplements (steroids, antibiotics, etc.).
If you have questions about us or our desires to live this type of lifestyle, we would be glad to respond.
Thanks in advance for your help, advice, etc
