We have Senepol cattle in Panama and a calf born this morning had a head tilt to the left and her left eye has broken blood vessels. I saw her just after delivery. She got up no problem, was looking for teats at the chest and going under her mother. When she would start to move faster she went in a circle to the left, faster and faster until she fell down. I got her to the teat but no latch. I got her to drink 1/4 of a bottle twice of colostrum milked from her mother. She was sucking well. The vet gave her B12, selenium (and anti-inflammatory shots after my husband said maybe she has swelling in her brain). He had no other suggestions. I muscle test for physical problems for my patients and also have some medical intuition and I get that she has an issue at C3 and C5 vertebrae. Did some traction and wiggling as the human chiropractor here suggested. He has worked on horses, but he is away for several days. We got her to have a bit more colostrum. Now she is not even walking as well as she did initially along with some extreme neck extension (arching her head up). The top of the neck gets tight for about a minute and you can feel muscle spasms in her jaw. My husband thought it was seizures but now I don't think so. Also doing many homeopathic remedies and a type of therapy that I do for people (and animals) Matrix Repatterning - I can adjust vertebrae when they are out in a slow manner. Any other thoughts on what this might be? It doesn't look good right now. This is this cows first calf. A female weanling that won't stay in the other field with the other weanlings was super interested in her and when the calf was standing tried to mount her several times. I had to chase her away twice but I don't think she injured her - I feel like it happened during delivery. We removed the mother and calf from the others. Her head is no longer tilting to the left like it was for most of the day but now this uncontrollable neck extension. Hoping to save her 😢. I've had horses all my life but cows only in the last 2.5 years.
