Ok so up until literally a week ago our great pyrenees pup was great. She is now about 6 months old or maybe 7. Weve had visitors over all the time and she gives a few barks then quiets down when she sees they are ok. Welllll my sister and friend are visiting and now all of a sudden she WILL NOT SHUT UP. And she also is now running away from us when trying to catch her, it took my husband half an hour to get her to lock her in the barn so she'd stop barking. She was just sitting in front of the porch while we were sitting there and she just barked and would not stop. How do I stop this?
Because I HATE barking dogs and always have. It just fries my brain. And unfortunately I already have two of them. My aussie is very neurotic and has been since the day we brought him home and he does bark at people as they come in the door or enter a room. Even if he just saw the come in the door 5 minutes ago. It's ridiculous. And my husband kept a female puppy from an accidental litter he had who is quite skittish just like him and barks. However, you can get them to quiet down. It just gets crazy when they're together barking at someone new. With Sukey she just doesn't stop!!! She obviously learned it from them, the female who is now two years old in particular.
It was annoying enough to deal with those two barking, but they are intensely loyal and very good(inside/outside) guard dogs so we really could never get rid of them. And I want to keep Sukey too but there is NO WAY I am having THREES dogs like that. I am thinking once this high tensile project is done that we can find some way to keep her in the fenced pasture/barn area so she doesn't even have access to the driveway or house or yard. Until then I am also keeping her completely separated from ava the barker so she stops teaching her those habits. Is it too late tho? Barking is SUCH a hard habit to break. Is this a phase? Also, it almost seemed like she would have bit my friend if he had tried to pet her. Raising her lip and cowering and everything. She had no fear until now... Nobody's hit her or anything...
