Hey everyone, I got a question for all of you smart people on here. I am trying to come up with a faster way of cooling milk. I have been looking at the small bulk coolers you all were talking about a while back. I am also at the same time trying to keep the milk a bit cleaner.
Right now I have a nupulse bucket system that I am using. I milk, then pour the milk into a stainless steel bucket to carry to the house, the filter/strain directly into jars and cool in ice/water bath. This works ok, but we do get bits of hay and such that falls off our coats into the top of the milk. Also I only have a 3 gallon pail right now, and this summer I could have at least three cows milkin at a time. I don't want to have to make several trips to the house with the little pail.
What i would like to do,is put an in-line filter on my nupulse, milk, then take the nupulse bucket with the lid still on so that it is not exposed to the air, Then dump directly into the bulk cooler, then once cool, fill my jars and put in fridge.
Will this work? am I missing something? If this will work can someone point me to the right in-line filter and such I will need to put this together.
Also a question for you "northern" milkers. This winter while using the nupulse, I ended up with little chunks of "butter" in my milk, which caused the milk to strain HORRENDOUSLY SLOW. I am guessing from the agitation of milk going through the claw then falling into the pail? Now the question is if I put an in-line filter in, will this "butter" clog up the filter and cause the milk not to flow through the line like it is supposed to? Or is the milk still warm enough at that point and is not turning to butter intill it falls into the tank.
Thanks for any insight
