We had an extra good looking, great growing bull calf, this fall my DH wants to use on a few heifers. We will be AI ing others about the same time but have five cross cows that he'd like to test with this bull. I love his looks but want to have him cut as his disposition is really bad. His nickname is Humpy Jack. All day long he is bothering the heifers and cows either trying to jump them or butting heads and he is only 3 months old. It seemed he was born standing and just started life with his motor running full speed. His growth rate is phenomenal with a fancy presence but I believe he is hyper aggressive. We loaded a few heifers for a vet check this weekend out the pasture his mother is in, and he had an enormous temper tantrum. He jumped on a round bale and tore it to pieces. He is way too bold and hyper to use for breeding and I need a little help convincing DH this would be a bad idea. Temperament is very important to me and have only kept calm reliable cows. I have no idea where this calf got his temperament from the bull we used couldn't be more laid back. His other bull calves are very gentle and babyish and are months older than ours. We can handle him now but in a couple of months I think he is going to be scary. Any words from the wise that might help convince DH he needs to be steered right away? I'm going to the vet this week and would like to take him along. Watching him tear up the hay bale was funny, but he kept looking at us like this is what I want to do to you. At least that's the way I read his behavior, maybe he is just healthy and full of himself?
