Hey guys!
Well the weather has been a little crazy lately with both an earthquake and a cyclone hitting nearby, but in between all that I got an exciting present - 3 gorgeous new masks from Kirby! Today was a lovely, sunny day so it was time to try them out. I'm sure you've all seen her workmanship around the forum at this point but I couldn't help but do a photoshoot... especially while the masks are still clean
When I arrived everybody, including the 3 donkeys, were chilling out by the stanchion
First up to get her mask on was Tallulah. Isn't she so elegant? The perfect model
Then it was Ginger's turn. She got the brightest one so that if she manages to get it off (like she often does) I will be able to find it more easily in the paddock
You will notice in these photos the coin sized marks on Tallulah's neck. These are fly bites. Well, they are areas where the flies insist on nibbling at every day. It's been weeks and even with daily fly spray, I can't get the flies off long enough for them to heal up. This is why the masks are so important.
MacLeod before...
MacLeod after... Is he handsome or what! He's a bit of a pain to mask-up. Usually I manage with a bit of food, only now now his horns are so long I have to be wary, else I get stabbed in the eye!
Ginger, AKA Fatty McFat Face, went right back to relaxing once everybody had donned their fabulous new 'outfits'
Since we are on the topic of masks, I figured I should show off my donkey Toby in his. Toby has terribly sensitive skin but since he has had this mask on, he's got so much better and the fur is starting to grow back on his nose. It's a Caribu and very sturdy, with a double locking velcro strap and poll strap. Plus it's cotton so it's very soft on his skin. I might also add that getting a mask on this donkey was impossible not so many months ago; his trust has improved in leaps and bounds
And I'll finish off with a photo of the paddock, looking beautiful and green; such a great site after so many dry months.
