Has anyone used those online eyeglasses places? I just placed an order with Zenni Optical (http://www.zennioptical.com/). For $40 I got my prescription, with astigmatism correction, frames, anti-scratch, UV protection, glare reduction, etc., including shipping.
I had paid over $500 at Lens Crafters. It's a 45minute drive, each way, and I had to go there 3 times and still didn't have glasses I could see through. The first pair, as soon as I tried them on I said "These aren't right". She said the prescription was just different and I needed to get used to them. Went back, they checked and for some reason the lens on one was higher than on the other. So she was like "Oh yeah, no wonder you couldn't see through these!" and put in for another pair. Again, couldn't see through them, and they said I couldn't get them refitted for 4 days, because I had to give myself time to adjust. Only the problem again was in the glasses. So I tried again, still couldn't make them work and got a refund. At least they're good about honoring their refund policy!
I'm really hoping these $40 ones work, because my glasses are scratched so badly I have to turn my head sometimes to see around the bigger scratches!
The website is neat - you can upload a photo of yourself and see how the glasses look on your face. Measuring the pupil distance is really easy too, in a mirror with a ruler.
A friend said he's used this site and he liked what he got.
For $4 extra you can get clip-on sun shades. I thought that was neat. But I never want sunglasses.
