We have a rescue dog, boxer/pit bull mix, I am guesstimating over 2 years old. We have had him since April. When we found him at the side of the road he had a severed cord wrapped tightly around his neck. He was very skinny and in obvious poor health. He was hiding in an old barn on a property that has been vacant for over 4 years. We took food and water to him for 3 days. He would not allow us to touch him or get close enough to him to touch. On the 4th day we got him to follow my DD home on her bike, by offering him cheese along the way. It was a 2 mile ride. Once home we worked on trust. He mixed very well with our other 3 dogs and all the farm life. He was allowed in the house from the start. When he would eat and drink he would often throw up because the cord around his neck was so binding, it was into his skin with bloody puss 3/4 of the way around his neck. But he would not let us even touch his head. On the 5th day it was obvious we had to act on the cord. My DD and DH held Hank down while I cut the cord off. The skin that was injured that had been up around his jawline from the cord, dropped down to the top of his chest when the cord was removed. His relief was instantaneous. It is a testament to what a good dog he is that he did not even try to bite us during this. Since then, he has become an amazing dog and has bonded with my DD like I have never witnessed before. However, Hank has started throwing up. It happens usually during the night if he drinks water. Our Anatolian often goes out in the wee hours and if Hank goes with her, when he comes back in he will throw up 'mucus water'. It is clear like water, but it is thicker like mucus. Some times there are some left over dinner kibbles with it. Hank has been neutered, has had all of his shots, tested negative for heartworm, eats well (premium kibble free fed with farm fresh something at dinner time). He plays great, takes good care of the farm, no other symptoms but throwing up. (And the embarrassment afterwards!) My thought was scar tissue but that doesn't make sense because I would think we would see problems when he was eating. He is not loosing weight, his skin/coat is beautiful, there are no other symptoms that we have been able to see. Any ideas? Suggestions?
