I've uploaded some of the data on KFC fresh cows and health events following calving.
In an effort to avoid using too much photobucket bandwidth, I'm going to try posting the fresh cow graphs within a Google Excel document.
Now... I haven't used Google like this before so I'm not 100% certain it will work.
Click on the link below, let me know if it is viewable. There should be about 10 graphs.
KFC Study
Current comments:
1) The data isn't entirely complete as there are some cows that I don't know how whether they've successfully made it to 30 or 60 days fresh or not - PM me!
2) I'd like to think incidence rates aren't quite as high as they look at the moment so get the current information about your cows to me and I'll reload the graphs.
3) Not all cows have passed the risk period so incidence can change (e.g. cows that calved in July have passed the 60-day "risk period", but cows that calved in Aug and Sept can still have fresh-cow-related health problems that would change the incidence).
4) The current data reflects month the cows calved - not month the health events occurred. In reports for large dairies the group I work for lists fresh events (e.g. ketosis, metritis) by month the cow freshened (since they typically occur in the first 30 days), and non-fresh events (e.g. mastitis, lameness) by month. If you're interested in a different graphical arrangement let me know and we'll go from there.
5) Best case scenario would include more cows than 40 - larger population equals more accurate data.
Y'all interested in continuing this? If so I'm probably going to change (read that as "simplify"!) a few things for the future as I think there's a few variables that aren't important enough to track.
