I have some questions about showing/breeding and registering rabbits. In general what is the process for registration? Finding papered Chinchilla rabbits around here .. or heck Chinchilla rabbits period seems to be a nightmare. So I was curious if it is possible to breed to standard and have them registered through ARBA(I think I got that right I am very bad at abbreviations) in the future? In all honesty are there any books in regards to the process? I know a few of you have or do show rabbits. Not sure if any specialized in Chinchillas though. I have gone through the standard of perfection and so far my two Chin females seem to fit in except for one thing simply because I am unsure of what it means lol. What do they mean by Mandolin?( I know it is an immediate DQ just not what the heck it actually looks like or even is). I know at the time I purchased my two I was told they are pure but I do not put a lot of stock in a person's word these days. maybe I am wrong for that but it is what it is. I know my friend Mike today was surprised when I told him the kits most definitely are NOT purebred Chinchilla. He assumed they were until I pointed out to him the babies have a gold undercoat,(this is from the father as he has a brown agouti coloring). Their(the does) coloration is literally on the money.I do however worry about their weights. I will gladly take pics and post them tomorrow if you want specific views please let me know. I am blessed that both are pretty good about being handled, especially Cupcake. I know it takes four generations to have even a remote start on a pedigree but I am willing to do the work. I think I may have a decent start even if the process will take me longer to get from point A to point B but it seems I never do anything the easy way.
On a side note.. how on earth do I find a really good buck? It took ages to find my does.If I need to start over I will but truely I would love to keep them in it. If my girls are not up to par so be it but they will still have a home with me even if not bred for show reasons.
