If it isn't porcupine quills in the nose, it's a stick up his butt!
Yesterday morning, I found this rather large, thorny, wild plum branch trailing along behind him. Of course, he wouldn't let me get anywhere NEAR him (I might capture him and take him to the aliens again, who would probe and poke him mercilessly). Luckily, it finally fell off.
Poor guy, he couldn't even sit down comfortably!
I felt so bad for him, but what am I supposed to do when he keeps running away? All I wanted to do was grab the branch, but he had other ideas. He's fine now, though.
Oh, and I ALSO found out the other morning that he's been coming and going from here as he pleases. I happened to be up on the hillside when he was up there just at sunrise, and I saw him put his head under the perimeter fence, then flop over on his side and wriggle under that way. I swear, the gap is only 4 inches or so - how does he fit himself under there?? But I saw him do it, so I know he can. I called to him, and he turned back to look at me, then looked off over Joe's pastureland (apparently scanning for bad guys). I told him he was gonna miss out on cookies if he didn't get himself right back in here, then turned and started walking back down the hill. After a few steps, I sneaked a glance over my shoulder, and he was wiggling back under the fence, about 10 feet down from where he went out. So it's not just ONE spot, he can go under anywhere he pleases, apparently. I'm glad he remembers to come home, and doesn't cause any trouble when he's out, because this place is as Pyr-proof as it's ever going to get. The only other thing I can think to do is bury hardware cloth around the whole 15 acre perimeter and that ain't NEVER gonna happen! LOL!
