Okay.... We THOUGHT Josephine was bread by the bull in march... Well apparently not. She jumped (CLEARED) our 4 foot fence with a barn wire top AND single strand electric wire to get to him Saturday night. She was with him when I went out to milk her Saturday night and there was no way to get her away from him. I gave up and left her. Sunday she still would come out of the field with him. I was able to milk her a little bit onto the ground. I tried to halter her and she ran from me. Monday FIL came over and tried to get her up for me... He couldn't get her either. He milked her a little bit onto the ground until she kicked him and he quit. I later went out and was able to milk maybe a quart onto the ground before she bolted. Last night me and hubby spent until almost 1 am this morning and FINALLY got her in her stall. I started milking her and she did fine in 3 quarters but when I touched her back right quart which was hard, she kicked the fire out of my knee cap! She spun in circles and tried to tear down the gate to get out. I stood at arms length and milked a few more squirts from that teat as she kicked at me each time. She became so frantic and I knew it was hurting her, I finally let her go.
Today I got her in her stall and got a gallon and a half milked out BUT.... Her back right quarter is still hard and seemingly swollen and I KNOW she now has mastitis in her front right because it came out in glubs and globs. I could even feel the chunks moving around inside her teat as I squeezed. As I kept milking it started coming out as regular though.
I know I need to milk her more and try to get it all out, but what else do I need to do? I am going to milk her again after revival tonight to try to clear more out.
I like to do things as naturally as possible. I really would like to avoid antibiotics!
