She was very moody at milking last night and would not leave the gate that leads into the pasture where the angus girls and bull were. I ended up just milking her there by the gate then turning her out with them. At 4pm I called her back up to the back pasture so she would be more accessible tonight for milking and because her fresh hay bale was back there and the front pasture had ran out of hay earlier in the day. She readily came to me and walked thru the gate.... THEN she went nuts! As soon as she walked past me as I held the gate open she slung her head and hit me into the fence. I screamed NO at her and hit at her with my right forearm. She started jumping, bucking, and kicking her back legs out like a donkey and came back at me. I loudly and aggressively screamed NO at her several times and hit her in the nose. My 10 year old son heard me screaming at her and came running to where i was. When she saw him she went in a full run toward him. I went running screaming after her and screamed for him to get out of the way as I picked up a rock and chunked at her. My son climbed up onto the fence trying to climb over. The rock threw her off course a little and she slung her head at him but missed. I got her attention and he ran to her stall and closed himself in it. She started bucking and kicking again, I raised my arm at her and screamed again and she turned and ran in the direction my son had went. When she saw her hay bale she went straight to it. I ran to the stall and my son and I exited the other side of it into the goat catch pen where she doesn't have access.
I then went around to the other gate next to her hay bale armed with a big stick this time. I talked to her as she was eating and she just kept munching away. I entered the gate slowly and approached her. She acted like nothing had happened and munched on her hay as I petted her!
I have no idea what got into her, but she scared me!
