We left this evening to go out to dinner in Salem (about a half hour away) which we rarely do. While passing a neighbors place we almost hit two dogs- a boxer and a blue heeler. We thought it was strange that they at the Kirkland's house- they only have Shitzuhs. (or however it's spelled.) We got to the restaurant and saw the friend who had just left our house about 40 minues before we left our house. So, our dinner lasted longer than it should have. Two and a half hours later we were on our way home- nd right at the city limit sign we saw the dogs again- about 5 miles from where they had been. So, naturally we loaded them in the car (We did NOT all fit very well. And MAN boxers are hyper!)
So, after going to all the neighbor's places, and no one has any idea where they came from- we brought them home. They imediately jumped out of the back yard, so they had to come into the house. They are SUCH good dogs. Our dogs didn't think so. So, the big dogs were locked down stairs. The Boxer is super well trained- come, sit, down, stay.... The heeler isn't, but is totally sweet and calm. It's hip is either injured, or it has arthritis- it favors that leg. Anyway, after a rather large poo pile, and two large puddles, (down stairs- poor things didn't know where to go potty) they are now tucked in nicely in the barn- locked in a room where they can't get out, and can't get to the other animals.
Why are WE always the ones who find the poor lost animals? Why do we always stop and save them!??!?!
If we wanted big dogs, and were heartless enough, I would totally keep these two! They are SO sweet and wonderful!
We called animal control- they were supposed to come out and get them.... that was 3 hours ago..... welcome to Polk Co.
So, tomorrow- they are going to the vet office to see if they are chipped. They had better take them- even if they aren't.... I'm sure someone is frantically missing their babies right now. I would be beside my self with worry and grief if these two were mine and I lost them.
