So on the morning of November 9th, there was a little, little mouse in a bucket in the barn. I gave it some grain, and a slice of apple- as you do- and showed Sabrina. She got a gallon jar, put shredded paper in it, and took it into the house. I "knew" what mom would say..... When she showed mom, mom said "Oh- it's pretty adorable, isn't it. Maybe we could train it to be a house-mouse. But you should get a little aquarium for it, not that jar." Well- that wasn't what I was expecting! LOL It's a girl. Her name is Molly.
Then, about a week later, my brokenhearted little girl walked into her room to see Molly having a seizure. Oh what tears that girl had! We didn't think the little mousie was going to make it. Perhaps this is why she was so easy to catch. But Molly Mouse was saved! After finding her nearly dead and having a seizure- I picked her up and she was cold. I got her nice and warm agian... and voila`! All better! You should have seen us! I was holding her, trying to warm her up... when she finally got warm she perked up and took off! She ran out of my hand, across mom's lap, across the dog, under the sofa, and behind the piano! We decided that she was fine. It took us about ten minutes to catch her again. The little snot! So, it turns out that Sabrina's room is too cold for her. :/ She's now in the living room with her little house sitting on a heating pad! LOL- spoiled mouse
So- a "good" farmer would probably have killed the mouse that we caught in the barn-- but NO, we brought it into the house. A "normal" person might have let the cat just catch the mouse when she got lose (4 times now)-- but NO, we moved heaven and earth (well, ok- the piano [3 of the 4 times]... but it FELT like heaven and earth) to find and catch the little thing.... again.
So what does this Horrible, Abnormal, non-farmerish farmer do today??? Yeah- I just spent $3.50 on a mouse named Mallory. Molly was lonely. And Oh my goodness 'Mallory' is trying to mother Molly (she's about twice Molly's size- and a beautiful silver color) and she keeps squeeking at her! The cuteness is almost unbearable! Now that the dog knows that the mice are there, she sits- looking up at their house- and whines from time to time. She wants to be their mommy! LOL We now have two dogs, two mice, a fish, and a cat in the house!
And on a side note... I swear, I don't know who this woman is who is calling herself my mother- but this is not the woman I grew up with! Lambs, goat kids, and the occasional calf were ok in the house (until they were healthy) But mice and a cat? This is craziness!
