Ruff and tumble (5 mo border collies, highly sensitive and intellegent) seem to be starving themselves. No fever, no diharea, no vomiting, no coughing... They are depressed but not listless. If I take the cow and calves to pasture they follow and help Dog bring the calves into the pasture, but not with the high activity they had a week ago monday. When I walk down to feed the mares (a quarter mile) they go with me, but no longer hunt or stalk eachother in the grass. Their names should tell you how active they usually are.
They are just about 5 months old, had shots, but are waiting rabies till they feel better. They are shedding profusely, but so are the horses.
Last tuesday blew in a storm that was more hurricane than storm. At evening feeding they were in their varikennel together in the barn isle. At 9pm dh got home and said they were cold so wrapped the whole kennel in a insulated horse blanket. In the morning, they werent right, acting like they were in trouble, but they rarely are, I thought they were just in shock, their first real storm.
They wouldnt come when called, they were training with cheetos for treats, and refuse even those. I have fixed them everything under the sun to tempt them, but they turn their heads like even roast beef is disgusting to them, they used to wait at the milk gate like freekin vultures hoping for some "dirty" milk. But turn away from it like its toxic, im drinking it, im not sick.
Today is a bit better, they arent hiding. But ruff, female, is getting weaker and tumble, male, seems better, even troting and a bit of a canter today. I crossed the new colostrum thread and bonked myself, why didnt I think of that! I warmed some and have given both 60 cc, but its forced. Been an hour, they havent puked it up.
Any thoughts, ? I think I covered everything....
