Lady has been here for a week and last night I woke up to a very strange sound.
Silence
I realized I had not herd her bark for most of the night and I was scared. I went outside thinking I would find her gone or worse, shot by a neighbor.
Instead, I found a very content dog and a silent barnyard where everything seemed to be in order.
I went back to bed and slept peacefully. In fact, I slept so well that I did not realize my husband got up, went outside, milked and did all the chores without me and let me sleep. I got up at 7:30! I don't even remember the last time I stayed in bed until 7:30!
Awesome dog and awesome hubby!
On another note, the food issues between the GP and the Corgi are starting to work themselves out. I still monitor but a reprimand from me keeps things in order and I think it will just take time for them both to settle down.
The amazing thing is that I can take the GP's food away from her and set it up on the picnic table (which she can easily reach) and she will not touch it. She will look at it, smell it, but will not eat it until I place in on the ground in front of her. She is an amazing dog and I am so blessed to be found by her.
The folks who had her for a month after she left the shelter wrote me yesterday and said she was not happy at their home and they are so pleased she is doing well here but they miss her terribly. They sent me a precious photo of their twins, who can't be more than two years old, in the yard with her and one of them leading her by herself and Lady just following along behind obediently. I got a heck of a dog and I just could not be happier!
Feeling very blessed.
