OMG...
Went out early to check on Adelle, she was not acting quite right yesterday. found her laying on her side flat out her udder looks like a leaking balloon that is gonna explode. and her head is twisted back against the wall and she is not moving! I called her and NOTHING.. and I yelled and NOTHING. OMG my heart dropped! I ran in (still in my jammies and slippers) and just as I reached for her she slowly moved her head up and rolled onto her belly! OMG.
she scared me to DEATH guys!
so she laid there for a moment huffing and puffing. and decided to get up. She is puffing when she breaths. I checked her ears and they are still nice and warm. but her udder is soooo tight. she has just started leaking. I dont know HOW these girls can go so long with their udders sooo swollen and hard. she can barley walk it hurts her so bad. until yesterday it was a full udder, NOW we are getting the edema starting. I am praying this is the beginning of labor. wondering if I should check and see if I can feel baby. I have some OB gloves. she does have some very sticky goobers.. but not the long hang to the hock kinds. I was not nervous with Clarice, she was an old pro at this, but adelle, this is her first. so am a little nervous. I know I can easily pull lambs and goats, but this is on such a much BIGGER scale. Looks like we will be sticking close to home.
Well I had to vent.. family still in bed and my heart is still skipping a beat I think.. damb cow!
pray for a delivery and no problems all.

went back out to check and she was flat out again, her ears were a little cooler, so I got a tube of CMPK into her. (remember her mother died of milk fever shortly after giving birth) Tried to check positioning of the calf, but I didnt have a head holder, and she walked around beating me with her tail till I gave up. lol..
So I alerted the family that she appears to be in labor and to not bother too much. I think this is going to be a long labor. I wanted to walk her out to the pasture where she has more room but not sure if thats a good idea. its supposed to be a cooler day today and the humidity is going to be down.
