OMG, we got DUMPED on last night! I had to dig the Pyrs out of the garage this morning, and there was no way I could get my cart to the barn. I thought of carrying the milker out there but in the end I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't - the snow is knee deep most of the way out there and as it was, I had to carry my pail UP (I could never have carried the full surge bucket up like that) to get back in the house. My poor hands were screaming after having had a week off milking, and I didn't get it all because I worked them to failure. My fingers just stopped responding and there was nothing I could do, but I got most of the milk, which is better than none, I suppose. I can't even get the big cow barn door open because of the snow, and to go around from the other side would entail waist-deep snow drifts, so they're locked inside until the wind stops and Rich can get the Bobcat out there to move some snow.
I've been stomping some old rotten hay into the muck in the barn to try to make it somewhat drier (what a mess that's going to be to clean out when this is over), but I'm almost out, and the rest of the old rotten hay is buried under another drift out in front of the barn. Bandit's cervix seems to still be clenched, although she's gettin' pretty floppy in the back end. Please, Bandit, PLEASE wait another few days!!!!!
This morning the weather forecast said "new snow accumulation of less than one inch," (that was at 6:00 am) and now it says "2 to 4 inches" and 100% chance of MORE snow. That 2 to 4 inches would be if there was no wind, but it's blowing about 20 to 25 mph out there, so it's piling up like crazy. There's 7 feet of snow in my garden again.
I WANT SPRING!!!!!!!!
