Hi all,
I am new on this group but have an urgent question, so thank you in advance for all your help!!
We were very in the dark about everything you need to take care of milk goats if we're not using commercial feed, so we're starting with sick animals to begin with
We have 1 buck, 1 fixed male, 3 mamas & 1 very prego. We have been deworming with garlic/molasses drenches (for 2 weeks now), and give 1/8 c. acv w/ grain (2 c. oats, 1/2 c. barley, 1/4 c. corn, 1 T raspberry leaf) twice a day. We have recently cut out the corn because we have a LOT of clover, and found out that corn & clover may be too much protein and too little sulfur. So we've got sulfur on order & calcium citrate on order. We just started drenching copper & dolomite in acv (about 20 cc's total) about 3 days now. The problem is that now none of them are eating their grain (except the one we milk). The boys normally attack their food, no matter what's in it, but yesterday and today they won't touch it. Our buck has diarrhea (for about 2 weeks now, but has always had an appetite, so we assumed that was part of the parasite problem and would clear up as he cleansed parasites and got the minerals he is needing). We have another mama that hasn't been eating hardly anything for a couple weeks now, but we've tried lots of things for her, but she won't budge. They have free access to kelp, redmond salt and sea-90 salt. They all got very depleted during the winter here in the midwest and we actually lost one to parasites or ketosis (not sure which was first). The others have all been showing signs of ketosis, so that's why we're working so hard to get all the trace minerals.
Any ideas? Sorry to dump so much info on you all right off the top. We're getting desperate!
Blessings,
Kathie
