What a GOOD BOY!!!!
I think I've figured out why he's been barking at the horses. It's because Horus chases Bandit, and sometimes he just runs, but it's a fast run. He's exercising, you know.
Tonight, I put Aiesha in her stall to eat, and Horus, Wind, and Bandit were still out in the pasture. Rich was sitting up by the house with Cowboy, and as I was coming out of Aiesha's stall, I heard Cowboy barking. I looked up and saw him barreling across the grass toward the corral, and just as I got to the barn door, I met Bandit hotfooting it around the corner into the barn. I tried to dodge the same way she tried to dodge, and ended up with both my hands on her forehead, and she pushed me back a step or two. Then I realized why she was in such a hurry! Horus was hot on her tail! I got out of her way finally (this all happened in a split second), and she rushed past me, and I chased Horus across the corral, yelling at him about his parentage. By this time, Cowboy had come through the corral fence and was right beside me, still barking up a storm.
I stopped chasing Horus (I know it's stupid to chase a horse, but sometimes he just ASKS for it! LOL!), and started walking back to the corral gate, and Cowboy came with me, RIGHT beside me, no longer barking. I realized he had been concerned that the DANGEROUS HORSE (or maybe the cow) would stomp me, and he had braved their dangerous hooves to come in and save me. What a guy!
This dog is priceless. ;D It means so much to me when a dog "saves" me from something. My first Dobie saved me from a "horrible fire" one time <wink> when I was burning some trash in the fireplace. I'd put a piece of a pizza box on there, and the corrugated cardboard whooshed flames out and that silly dog pulled on my wrist with his teeth and when I wouldn't move away from the fire, he squished himself in between me and the flames. It was a hot fire, and he had to turn his head away, but by God, he was NOT going to let me burn up. He was going to burn up instead. Bless his heart. I dearly loved that dog, and I love Cowboy, too. Dogs like this are special indeed.
