Well, BC lost her pregnancy, we believe. But I just read this on another thread:
"I'd still have her preg checked -- I've had too many pregnant cows show a full-blown heat at various stages throughout the pregnancy, but most commonly at 5-7 months.
Old dairying books claim that 10% of cows will show heat while pregnant, most of the cows I've owned must be in that 10%, because heat while pregnant is quite common for us.

Is it possible ButterCup is still bred after all? She had that one major heat when Basil was working on birthing Dill. We saw all the signs of it, including the bit of blood the next day. We saw another heat, with mucous but no blood three weeks later. We didn't see a heat at all or signs of one this time 'round.
I'm grasping at straws, I'm sure. Her lil' udder seemed to recede in size when we believe she lost the pregnancy. BUT lemme ask this...
How big would her udder BE right now? Let's assume she was still bred. She was bred April 28th. She's a first time heifer and is 20 months old now. She'd be 6 months along. We haven't seen any difference in her udder at all since back in Sept. It's not big at all. Not even a little bit. I mean, it's definately different than before we bred her. She's a purebred Jersey.
Should I bio track her, or just assume she's not bred and go ahead and take her to be rebred come Nov. as we'd planned? I'm assuming the second part for sure, because in my heart, I think she lost her pregnancy. We have NEVER stuck a needle in this cow or attempted it before either. I've stuck all kinds of poultry though, so am not squeemish about needles.
Ok, cut and dry answers. I've already confused myself enough. LOL!

** Lemme add, I read this post to Mike (DH) and he said, "that's not true, I told you a few weeks ago I thought BC's udder looked like it was getting bigger again!" I disagreed, but didn't see it getting any smaller.
