Heart has what we thought was an injury at first but I have since decided that is not the problem. We are having camera issues but I will try to get a picture tomorrow. We already plan on worming all the cows this week or next so if it is a parasitic thing, that should take care of it but I would still like to know what it is.
Description:
Right next to (not on) her RF teat I noticed a scabby spot. It was at the evening milking so I didn't get a real good look as it was getting dark and my shed light isn't the greatest. The next morning I examined it better and there was the scabby portion but also what looked like a pussy spot farther in but connected to the scabby part KWIM? The pussy looking spot was kinda like a windy path. Well, the next day the pussy spot was also scabby and now today there is another pussy, windy path thing. It seems as though there is something right under the skin. The pussy spots really don't have puss in them but they look like the should. They are just kinda watery, slightly yellowish, but the skin looks kinda dead a yellow.
The part that was scabby, the scabs have come off and the skin doesn't seem to be permanently affected but there does seem to be what looks like bites. Small little puctures, but they could also be hair follicles or pores that are slightly swollen from the irritation.
I do not thing that it is ringworm and this is the only place that she is having a problem. She doesn't mind me poking around at it and I have been washing it well before and after milking. He appetite and general are not affected. It is healing very quickly because the first spots I noticed on Friday night are completely healed up and no scab left.
IDEAS???
Here is the picture. You can see where it is red close to the teat is where it started and it has spread out further this morning. Although it looks really red in the picture, it doesn't look irritated or sore. The rest of it is dry except the yellowish looking spots towards the outside.
