Hello!! I just joined the boards here after a friend sent me a link to it. This place is great!!!!!!! I spent 3 hours reading the other night and never got out of one topic!! LOL!!
Ok I live here in SE Ohio on a 30 acre farm. We just moved here two years ago and oh my what a mess!!!!!!!!! Has taken alot of work just to make the house liveable and now we are working on the barn.
We raise pigs and currently have 4 sows and 1 boar and 7 butcher pigs. Their names are daisy (gonna farrow this weekend!! yahoo!!) lily, betty, petunia, and fred then the butcher ones are kinky, runt, whitey, bu bu, yorkie, and hampton.
Then we have 3 dogs, maggie, becky, and andy.
5 cats sassy, thomasina, mickey, blackie and sissy.
1 bunny rabbit named bunny.
Then I have my calves. Now this is a handful!!!!! I have dumbo who is a holstein and 8 months old then I have 13 2 week old jersey calves!!!! All steers. I bought them at the sale barn as I just could not pass them up!!!!!!!! Them little doe eyes just call to me! LOL!
We call this farm The Spoiled Rotten Farm since everything is poiled rotten!!!!!!! Our pigs love marshmellows and animal crackers!!!!! LOL!!!
I was raised on a dairy farm of holsteins. After I married I have just been a house wife and mom and we lived on lots in a trailer but decided we wanted to get back to basics so bought this place and started farming. For me sale barn calves and jerseys are both a new thing so please be patient with me on learning how they work!! Holsteins are quite a hardy calf and we never bought calves as we always had plenty of our own. So I never had to deal with sickness or anything like that. I can't stand to lose a critter so I do all in my power to make them well but I am limited on knowledge for jerseys but with a very good friends help I think I might make it!! LOL!! Ok thats about all there really is to me and my bunch of spoiled younguns here.
I look forward to spending alot of time here. Have a great week!!!!!!
