Ok, bear with me because I'm panicking...
Sweetie has usually just fit right into the stanchion. Sometimes she wiggles in, I didn't leave very much room and left about 2-4 inches to spare.
Yesterday, I noticed she was bigger around stomach, and had a harder time backing out off the stanchion. Tonight it was worse, she had to sqeeeeeeeeeeeze in and out. She had a harder time getting out tonight.
I called the vet and asked her how to tell if it's bloat and she said that cows suffer when they have bloat and roll around miserable, so this couldn't be bloat and she's just a "fat old cow".
I asked her if she could possibly be "showing" and she said that there was no way she would be showing and cows don't show until months ahead. The last time Sweetie was AI'd was mid-June, and she was with a bull twice since then but I honestly don't remember when. I think the last time was a month ago. Pregnancy tests came out negative but the last one was done 30 days after the last AI'ing which was that mid June day.
For whatever it was worth, I gave her 60cc of mylanta. I know that's a drop in the bucket for a cow, but I figure it couldn't hurt her and if she's just gassy, it might help. She pooped on the stanchion before giving her the mylanta, and she was burping a lot. (however, if burping is anything similar to pulling up cud, then I'm not sure she was burping).
Her stomach, on the right side, the lower half, is hard to the touch. Up on top is soft. She doesn't seem uncomfortable.
She just stood at the stanchion, while I milked, resting and chewing cud, burping (I think) and I even heard stomach growling...
Am I just panicking for nothing? I took pictures but they honestly don't look too significant to me. It looks like she put on weight, but to me it seems it happened overnight. It even looks to me like she's waddling a bit.
I'll post a few pics just in case it might help...
